Indoor Introduction to Stream Monitoring Workshop - Canceled!
The indoor monitoring workshop has been canceled.  If you were hoping to come, please see our other scheduled workshop dates listed below.

Free Series of Watershed Workshops

All the land in Fairfax County drains to the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay, so the oil, dirt, grease and trash that washes off streets and parking lots when it rains threatens our water quality and our wildlife.  Protecting watersheds, the areas that drain into these rivers, is vital to the quality of life in Fairfax County.
Fairfax County is creating watershed management plans to keep our streams clean and, as part of that effort, the Department of Public Works is sponsoring a free series of workshops for 12 watersheds in January for any and all residents who want to learn more about how we can improve the health of our streams.  Please call 703-324-5500, TTY 711 or visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpwes/watersheds and select "Get Involved!" for more information.

Environmental Survey

You may enjoy participating in a research initiative designed to gain an in-depth understanding of the attitudes and emotional triggers that encourage or prevent ecologically-friendly activities. The interview is conducted using a unique conversational simulator known as Socrates, unlike any other survey that you may have experienced in the past. It works like an Internet chat: it will pose a topic to which you may type as short or long a response as you like. Socrates then will follow up on your response in order to obtain a deeper understanding of your comments. The conversation will take 20 to 25 minutes. Your responses will remain anonymous.
